From March 16.: The Art Museum will be colsed

Closure period: Stavanger Art Museum will unfortunately be closed from 16 March to 14 November 2026. 

The museum’s roof will undergo major rehabilitation, and the work makes it impossible to keep the museum open to the public during these months. 

“Stavanger Art Museum has had leaks from the roof, into galleries and into storage. This must of course be resolved. Therefore, it is good that this major work is now being carried out,” says Hanne Beate Ueland, Department Director at Stavanger Art Museum. 

The total cost of the roof rehabilitation is around NOK 13 million. Stavanger Municipality and Rogaland County Municipality have together contributed around NOK 9 million. The remainder will be financed through loans, guaranteed by the municipality and the county.

“We have for a long time worked actively to secure funding for the rehabilitation of the roof at Stavanger Art Museum. We are therefore pleased that this important work is now being carried out so that the art museum can continue to operate well and responsibly in the years to come,” says Siri Aavitsland, CEO of Museum Stavanger.
