Largest presentation of Hertervig outside of Norway

Exhibition with Hertervig and Hill opens at Waldemarsudde

Saturday, September 21st, marks the opening of the exhibition Hertervig - Hill. Dream and Reality at Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde in Stockholm. This meeting between the two artists will also be the largest presentation of Hertervig's art outside Norway, featuring more than 80 of his works.

“The exhibition is an important step in our efforts to create greater international interest in Lars Hertervig’s art,” says Hanne Beate Ueland, Director of art at Stavanger Art Museum. The museum is collaborating with the Nordic Institute of Art on this project and has received significant financial support from Lærdal Medical AS. The exhibition is also supported by the DNB Savings Bank Foundation.

Stavanger Art Museum is very pleased with the successful collaboration with Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde, and next spring, the exhibition will also be shown here in Stavanger.

The Friday before the exhibition opens to the public, there will be a private preview attended by both Queen Silvia of Sweden and Queen Sonja of Norway. “It is a great honor for us that both queens have chosen to attend the opening of this exhibition,” says Siri Aavitsland, CEO of Museum Stavanger. “It shows that both our art-loving queen and Sweden’s queen appreciate Lars Hertervig’s art, which is incredibly inspiring,” she concludes.

For those who might be in Stockholm this fall, the exhibition is certainly a must-see. Prince Eugen’s Waldemarsudde is one of Sweden’s foremost and most beautiful museums. It has been operating as a museum since 1948 and is housed in Prince Eugen’s residence with additional extensions. The prince, who was an artist and deeply interested in art, made significant contributions to both Swedish and Norwegian art during his lifetime
