About the exhibition:
What is a primeval forest? Can you see the people? What sounds does the forest make?
Questions like these spark lively discussions among children when encountering Lars Hertervig’s painting Old Pine Trees from 1865. For decades, Stavanger Art Museum has shared this masterpiece with young audiences – and now we have created a special exhibition inspired by children’s questions, interpretations, and imagination: The Secrets of Hertervig.
Welcome to a speculative and sensory experience, where we get up close to the details in Hertervig’s painting and allow ourselves to create new stories
