Slow Art Day

Start the day at the museum

13. Apr 2024 KL. 10:00 - 11:30

Join us for a beautiful start to the day – Slow Art Day

For this exclusive event the museum will open its doors for a maximum of 15 people before the museums ordinary opening hours. This gives you the possibility to experience art in a quit and unique setting.

We have selected five artworks – both historical and contemporary art – which the participants will experience in a quit setting, and over a longer period. One of our staff will lead the event and give the participant about ten minutes in front of each work of art.

The event ends with a brunch in the museums café where we can discuss what we have seen. There will be served scones, fruit, and a drink of your choice.

Slow Art Day is an global event that happens every year in April. This year Stavanger Art Museum is one of the museums hosting a Slow Art Day event. Slow Art Day has a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.

Why slow? When people look slowly at a piece of art they make discoveries. The most important discovery they make is that they can see and experience art without an expert (or expertise). And that’s an exciting discovery. It unlocks passion and creativity and helps to create more art lovers.
